Drop in Migrant Encounters Along U.S.-Mexico Border

The U.S.-Mexico border has experienced a sharp decline in migrant encounters in 2024, attributed to recent policy shifts and increased enforcement efforts in both the U.S. and Mexico. Encounters with migrants from Guatemala, Honduras, and Venezuela, in particular, have fallen by over 80% since late 2023. Nonetheless, border security remains a priority for voters in the upcoming U.S. elections (Source: Pew Research Center, Mondaq).
